We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their portfolio of assets. We solve complex problems by finding integrated data-centric solutions from the first stages of consulting and engineering to installation and commissioning, to the last stages of decommissioning and remediation. Join us and help drive innovation and sustainability in our projects.

Purpose:

As a Senior Structural Engineer within Worley's Power team, you will lead and execute structural engineering work supporting the design, construction, maintenance, and modification of power generation and power delivery facilities. This role combines advanced technical analysis, project leadership, and multidisciplinary coordination to deliver safe, cost effective, and compliant structural solutions for industrial power clients.

Responsibilities:

Technical Project Delivery
  • Lead detailed structural design and analysis for power industry structures including buildings, foundations, equipment supports, steel and concrete systems.
  • Develop design deliverables such as calculations, specifications, drawings, technical reports, and structural design packages compliant with applicable codes and standards.
  • Conduct structural evaluations, field walkdowns, and inspections to support plant modifications, maintenance activities, and construction execution.
  • Ensure design changes conform to project scope and change management processes, including updates to design documentation and cost estimates.

Leadership & Coordination
  • Serve as technical lead for structural engineering on power projects, guiding discipline execution from conceptual design through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, electrical, procurement, construction, and owner representatives to resolve structural issues efficiently.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior structural engineers and designers, promoting quality and consistency across deliverables.

Quality & Compliance
  • Apply industry standards, building codes (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC), and power facility requirements to ensure structural integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead or contribute to design reviews, constructability reviews, and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) checks.
  • Support the preparation and review of technical bid evaluations, requisitions, and procurement documentation.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
  • 8+ years of progressive structural engineering experience with significant exposure to the power industry, industrial facilities, or heavily regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading structural design for steel and concrete systems in power plants, substations, or related industrial infrastructure.
  • Advanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, ETABS, RISA, SAFE, Tekla, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of applicable design codes and standards (AISC, ACI, ASCE, IEEE, NERC, etc.).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and documentation tools.
  • Excellent communication skills - technical writing, reporting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and lead structural discipline scope on complex projects.

Education - Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Valid U.S. Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.

Preferred:
  • Prior involvement with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts and delivery models.
  • Experience supporting plant modifications, field troubleshooting, and maintenance support.
  • Familiarity with reliability-centered design practices and power industry asset standards.
