Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Center Technician to provide operational leadership for a large-scale hyperscale data center deployment program. This role serves as a senior operational leader responsible for the successful execution of deployment operations across a workforce of approximately 160+ technical resources supporting server deployments, network infrastructure installations, structured cabling, hardware break/fix activities, asset management, logistics coordination, and customer support operations within a mission-critical environment. This individual will oversee multiple deployment workstreams, provide leadership to shift supervisors and operational leads, and serve as a key escalation point for leadership teams.
Leadership & Workforce Oversight
- Lead and mentor a team of deployment supervisors, shift leads, and operational leaders supporting a workforce of approximately 160+ technicians across multiple shifts and workstreams.
- Provide operational leadership across deployment, logistics, infrastructure support, inventory management, and customer-facing operations.
- Partner with recruiting, workforce planning, training, logistics, and delivery teams to ensure staffing levels align with customer demand and growth projections.
- Drive technician onboarding, workforce readiness, training compliance, certification programs, and ongoing skills development initiatives.
- Establish and maintain a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and operational excellence.
- Develop future leaders through coaching, mentorship, performance management, and succession planning initiatives.
- Drive workforce scalability strategies and organizational development plans to support rapid campus growth and evolving customer requirements.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to proactively address operational risks, staffing challenges, escalation management, and service delivery concerns.
- Lead operational governance processes and leadership cadences to ensure alignment across all deployment functions.
Operational Leadership
- Provide strategic oversight across all deployment workstreams including server deployments, rack-and-stack activities, network infrastructure installations, structured cabling, hardware lifecycle management, asset tracking, and break/fix operations.
- Lead day-to-day deployment operations while ensuring alignment with customer priorities, milestone commitments, and long-range capacity planning efforts.
- Drive labor utilization, productivity, deployment throughput, schedule attainment, and workforce efficiency across multiple teams and shifts.
- Coordinate operational priorities across engineering teams, logistics organizations, deployment teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders.
- Serve as a senior escalation point for operational issues, resource constraints, customer requests, and deployment-related challenges.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved operational standards and safety requirements.
- Support greenfield buildouts, campus expansions, hardware refresh initiatives, and large-scale deployment programs.
- Drive operational consistency and standardization across all deployment activities and workstreams.
Customer & Program Management
- Serve as a senior operational partner and primary point of contact for customer leadership and stakeholder teams.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions, operational reviews, staffing discussions, resource forecasting, and executive business reviews.
- Provide executive-level updates regarding staffing readiness, deployment status, capacity planning, operational risks, mitigation strategies, and workforce performance.
- Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders through consistent delivery, proactive communication, and operational excellence.
- Manage executive-level escalations and lead cross-functional resolution efforts involving operations, engineering, logistics, and customer teams.
- Support long-term program growth by aligning workforce plans, operational strategy, and deployment execution with customer objectives.
- Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring reliable execution, quality outcomes, and continuous operational improvement.
Operational Excellence & KPI Management
- Own site-level deployment performance metrics, workforce analytics, and operational reporting.
- Develop and maintain operational dashboards, capacity plans, workforce forecasts, and executive reporting packages.
- Monitor and improve technician utilization, deployment throughput, SLA attainment, quality metrics, inventory accuracy, safety performance, workforce readiness, and customer satisfaction.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and implement corrective and preventive action plans.
- Establish operational governance processes that support scalable growth and long-term program success.
- Drive standardization, automation, and best practices across deployment and operational activities.
- Deliver regular performance reviews and recommendations to senior leadership and customer stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience supporting data center operations, telecommunications, infrastructure deployment, technical operations, or mission-critical environments.
- 5+ years of experience leading large technical organizations, operational programs, or service delivery teams.
- Experience managing frontline managers, supervisors, team leads, or large technical workforces.
- Experience supporting hardware deployment, network infrastructure, structured cabling, break/fix operations, asset management, or large-scale technical field services.
- Proven experience managing customer-facing service delivery operations in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong operational planning, workforce management, resource forecasting, and execution capabilities.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving operational performance across multiple workstreams.
- Excellent communication, organizational, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, rapidly scaling environments with evolving business priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting hyperscale data center deployment programs.
- Experience leading organizations consisting of 100+ technical resources across multiple shifts and locations.
- Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, cloud, AI infrastructure, or mission-critical environments.
- Experience leading greenfield campus launches, startup operations, or large-scale expansion programs.
- Experience with workforce planning, operational forecasting, KPI reporting, and executive-level dashboards.
- Experience supporting server deployments, network infrastructure installations, hardware lifecycle management, and asset management initiatives.
- Strong understanding of service delivery governance, escalation management, and operational excellence frameworks.
- OSHA 30, PMP, ITIL, CompTIA Network+, BICSI, FOA, or equivalent certifications.
- Experience engaging with executive stakeholders and customer leadership teams.
