Summary

Location: Irving, TX Salary: $68.00 USD Hourly - $73.00 USD Hourly Description:
Lead Pega Software Engineer

We are not accepting C2C or 1099 arrangements.

Location: Charlotte, NC, Irving, TX, Chandler, AZ - Hyrid
About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Lead Pega Software Engineer to join a team responsible for building and supporting a portfolio of enterprise workflow applications within a large-scale technology organization. This role is ideal for a highly technical leader who enjoys solving complex business problems through automation, case management, and system integration.

The successful candidate will serve as a hands-on technical lead, contributing directly to design and development efforts while providing mentorship, code reviews, and technical guidance to the broader engineering team. This is not a management or coordination role. We are specifically seeking a developer who remains actively engaged in coding, solution design, and delivery.

The team currently supports 14 enterprise applications, and engineers may contribute to multiple initiatives simultaneously. Experience designing scalable workflow solutions, complex case management processes, and enterprise integrations is essential.

Important: Previous interview processes were impacted by candidate withdrawals and canceled assignments. We are seeking professionals who are genuinely committed to pursuing this opportunity and who have a demonstrated track record of reliability, follow-through, and long-term project engagement.
What You'll Do
Design & Development
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise-grade Pega applications.
  • Build and maintain workflow automation and case management solutions using the Pega platform.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Develop rules, flows, integrations, user interfaces, and decisioning components.
  • Ensure solutions align with Pega best practices, guardrails, performance standards, and enterprise architecture requirements.
Case Management Expertise
  • Design and implement sophisticated end-to-end case management solutions.
  • Configure stages, steps, SLAs, approvals, escalations, subcases, spin-offs, and parallel processing models.
  • Optimize user experiences for case workers through effective Pega UX design.
  • Drive improvements in workflow efficiency and process automation.
Enterprise Integration
  • Design, build, and support integrations with internal and external systems.
  • Develop and consume REST and SOAP services.
  • Utilize connectors, services, and asynchronous integration patterns.
  • Collaborate with architecture and integration teams to define interface requirements and integration strategies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex integration and performance issues.
Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership through active participation in development activities.
  • Conduct code reviews and establish development standards.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers on technical design, best practices, and problem-solving approaches.
  • Serve as a trusted technical resource for the team and stakeholders.
Operational Excellence
  • Participate in testing, performance tuning, deployment support, and production troubleshooting.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, risk, and audit requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across development and delivery processes.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of overall IT experience in enterprise environments.
  • 5+ years of hands-on Pega application development experience.
  • Strong expertise in Pega Case Management and workflow orchestration.
  • Experience designing and implementing enterprise system integrations using REST APIs and web services.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Pega Rules Engine
    • Flows and flow actions
    • Data Pages
    • Decision Tables and business rules
    • Application performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring development teams while remaining hands-on in development.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pega CSSA certification.
  • Experience with Pega Infinity and modern Pega platform capabilities.
  • Cloud migration experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or other cloud platforms.
  • Experience implementing CI/CD and DevOps practices within Pega environments.
  • Familiarity with Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications with multiple stakeholders and integration points.
What We're Looking For
  • A hands-on technical leader who actively develops software and leads through expertise and execution.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex business and technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience within large enterprise organizations.
  • Demonstrated ownership, accountability, and commitment throughout the hiring process and project lifecycle.
  • A low-risk, reliable candidate with a proven record of completing commitments and maintaining engagement through delivery.

Target Profile: Senior/Lead Pega Engineer, Lead Pega Developer, Principal Pega Developer, or Pega Technical Lead with strong case management, enterprise integration, and cloud migration exposure. This role is best suited for a developer who codes daily and serves as the technical authority for the team.
