Position: Senior Windows and Virtualization Infrastructure Systems Administrator
Location: Harrisburg, PA / Hybrid
Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire

JOB PURPOSE & SUMMARY
This is a mid-level technical position responsible for the administration and ongoing support of complex Intel and associated hypervisor (multiple with Nutanix as primary) computing environments.
Focuses on Windows OS/Intel Server Administration, Virtualization technologies, associated Windows Server application support, Windows web services and certificate implementation and renewal.
Adherence to STIG guideline and remediation efforts. Adherence to disaster recovery processes and requirements. The position requires teamwork skills to coordinate and support other system administrators and information technology teams within the Agency.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Windows Server Administration
Thorough understanding of the Windows Server Operating System (all versions) with the ability to troubleshoot application performance issues or problems.
Thorough understanding of Active Directory to include group policy management and its effect on both security and application function.
Support of Windows Server patching and vulnerability remediation.
Support of Windows Web Servers (IIS and certificate administration).
Create system images used to build new base template servers to DOD STIG standards.
Support of incident management, project delivery, and compliance activities. Works with other I/T teams to understand business needs and requirements to deliver improvements to processes, projects, and services.
Measures and tracks performance. Strives to enhance performance efficiencies and effectiveness while achieving project targets.
Collaborate with application owners to implement sound, reasonable backup and retention policies.
VDI Compute Environment
Support of incident management, project delivery, and compliance activities.
Assist team to enhance stability and functionality.
Identifies opportunities to improve VDI efficiency, effectiveness, reliability, and recoverability.
Ensure the VDI environments adhere to security and compliance requirements
Perform operating system and hardware maintenance.
Design, maintain, and document server configurations/layouts
Coordinate various hardware and firmware upgrades for multiple hardware platforms
Apply emergency/hot fixes to Intel operating systems
Ensure security guidelines are implemented and audited
Technical Assistance
Troubleshoot various production/implementation issues involving a variety of Intel based software applications. Establish root cause of failures and recommend/implement solutions
Nice To Have:
Virtualization management experience with Hyper-V; XenServer; and Broadcom/Vmware ESXi
Nessus scan familiarity and/or basic administration
Trend anti-virus client implementation and/or basic administration
Dell Open-Manage experience
Rubrik backup solution implementation and/or client use and implementation
Azure-Arc installation and management
Citrix management experience
QUALIFICATIONS / EDUCATION& EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and 5-10+ plus years of Intel/Virtualization experience or an equivalent combination of experience with training and/or certification.
Any job-related certifications, secondary education, or experience a plus.
Proficient in troubleshooting complex technical problems.
experience successfully delivering complex initiatives, meeting quality and time expectations.
Be able to communicate at a highly technical level to work effectively with peers and other I/T staff.
Preferred Qualifications: Recognized industry Administrator certification.
