Role OverviewOur client is seeking a
Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead a current-state physical infrastructure assessment at its Louisville, KY distribution center. This role is a
hybrid of Project Management and Systems Engineering, requiring both strong leadership and hands-on technical expertise across IT infrastructure.
The TPM will lead planning, coordination, and execution of the assessment while actively participating in infrastructure discovery, documentation, and validation efforts alongside OT and engineering stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Leadership & Coordination- Serve as the primary assessment lead, coordinating daily activities between Genentech site leadership and Apex assessment resources.
- Own scope management, scheduling, risk tracking, and communications throughout the engagement.
- Lead Phase 1: Planning & Kickoff, including:
- Defining assessment objectives and success criteria
- Assigning responsibilities across Technical PM and OT Integration resources
- Developing the assessment schedule and communication plan
- Facilitate daily standups, site walkthrough planning, and progress reporting.
Technical & Infrastructure Assessment (Hands-On)- Actively participate in physical walkthroughs of MDFs, IDFs, telecom rooms, and operational areas.
- Perform current-state infrastructure discovery, including:
- Network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers)
- Racks, cabinets, patch panels, and cabling
- ISP connections and carrier demarcation points
- Identification of single points of failure
- Capture and validate:
- Asset tags and serial numbers
- IP addressing and connectivity details
- Device locations (rooms, racks, cabinets)
- Assist in documenting:
- Hardware power sources (where visible)
- Power supply types and connections
- Physical topology relationships
Validation, Reporting & Handover- Support Phase 3: Validation & Quality Assurance, reviewing diagrams, inventories, and labeling accuracy.
- Partner with the OT Integrator to ensure IT/OT connectivity and dependencies are properly represented.
- Lead Phase 4: Reporting & Handover, delivering:
- Consolidated assessment findings
- Identified risks and gaps
- High-level recommendations for future improvements
- Updated diagrams and inventory documentation
Required Qualifications- 7+ years of experience in Technical Project Management, Infrastructure Engineering, or Systems Engineering
- Proven experience leading on-site infrastructure assessments or data center / facility walkthroughs
- Strong hands-on knowledge of:
- Enterprise networking (LAN/WAN)
- Physical infrastructure (MDF/IDF, racks, cabling, patch panels)
- ISP connectivity and redundancy concepts
- Ability to read, validate, and update network and physical topology diagrams
- Excellent stakeholder communication and documentation skills
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting distribution centers, manufacturing, or regulated environments
- Familiarity with IT/OT convergence concepts
- PMP or equivalent project management certification
- Prior experience working in environments with limited or outdated documentation
