Senior Platform Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Phoenix, AZ that is looking for a hands-on Senior Platform Engineer to support a cloud-native platform environment.

Responsibilities:
* Supporting and maintaining EKS-based platform environments
* Managing and optimizing Kubernetes workloads
* Working with service mesh (Istio) for traffic management, observability, and security
* Implementing and maintaining IaC pipelines
* Partnering with engineering teams to support deployment, scaling, and reliability
* Troubleshooting production issues across infra and app layers

REQUIREMENTS:
* 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS EKS
* Strong experience with Kubernetes in production environments
* Experience with Istio (or similar service mesh)
* Strong Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred)
* Experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
* Ability to work across infrastructure and application layers (full stack mindset)

Nice to have experience with:
* Observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
* Security in Kubernetes environments
* Multi-cluster or large-scale environments
* Experience supporting enterprise-grade platforms

Strong candidates will:
* Have built or managed EKS environments, not just used Kubernetes lightly
* Be able to explain: cluster setup, scaling strategies, networking (ingress, service mesh)
* Have real Istio experience (not just -familiar with-)
* Show ownership of infrastructure, not just ticket-based work
* Be comfortable working independently without heavy direction

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
