Cognos Report Writer with OpenPages-Focused

We are seeking a skilled Cognos Report Writer to design, develop, and maintain high-quality reports and dashboards supporting enterprise reporting and risk, compliance, and GRC initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong IBM Cognos Analytics experience and hands-on expertise working with the OpenPages reporting layer, with a solid understanding of OpenPages object models, relationships, and metadata. This role will work closely with a Cognos Solutions Architect to deliver scalable, accurate, and high-performing reporting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain reports and dashboards using IBM Cognos Analytics
• Develop reports leveraging the OpenPages reporting layer, with a strong understanding of OpenPages object models, hierarchies, and object relationships (e.g., issues, risks, controls, audits, actions)
• Interpret and navigate OpenPages metadata and data structures to produce accurate and meaningful GRC, risk, and compliance reporting
• Partner closely with a Cognos Solutions Architect to align reporting solutions with enterprise architecture, data models, and OpenPages object frameworks
• Translate complex business and technical requirements into effective, user-friendly reporting solutions
• Optimize report performance, ensure data accuracy, and follow Cognos reporting best practices
• Troubleshoot and resolve report, data integrity, and performance issues across Cognos and OpenPages datasets
• Support enhancements, modifications, and ongoing maintenance of existing Cognos reports
• Collaborate with business and compliance stakeholders to understand reporting needs and validate outputs
• Document report logic, OpenPages object mappings, data sources, and design standards

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Cognos Report Writer / Developer
• Strong hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics, including reporting, dashboards, data modules, and Framework Manager concepts
• Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical reporting solutions
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience developing Cognos reports using the OpenPages reporting layer
• Strong understanding of OpenPages object models, including object relationships, hierarchies, and metadata structures
• Experience supporting GRC, risk, compliance, audit, or regulatory reporting initiatives
• Experience working in partnership with solution architects or data architects
• Familiarity with enterprise data warehouses and complex data models
