SAS Viya4 Administrator/Consultant/Admin/Architect (Insider Threat)
We are seeking a consultant to support a variety of insider threat tasks for a SAS customer in the Intelligence Community. This consultant would be working with a team of fellow SAS consultants on an
ongoing project that started more than 10 years ago and has had a significant impact on national security.
The current solution integrates more than 100 different data sources into an advanced SAS Visual Investigator environment with nearly 30 entities and dozens of VA reports woven into the framework.
Applicants must be proficient in SAS Viya 4 administration, upgrades, and have a solid understanding of Kubernetes.
Applicants must be willing to obtain a TS/SCI w/polygraph security clearance, and live to the DC area (or relocate to DC area).
Location - Washington DC(100% Onsite)
Tentative Duration - 12 months
What you'll do:
Use data in a fast-paced operational environment to address urgent insider threats to national security.
The SAS Viya 4 Platform Administrator is responsible for the administration, operation, and technical integrity of SAS Viya 4 environments deployed on Kubernetes. This role requires a deep understanding of SAS Viya 4's cloud native technical architecture, container orchestration, and platform integrations, with emphasis on availability, security, performance, and scalability.
Administer and support SAS Viya 4 environments in containerized deployments.
Manage SAS Environment Manager, including users, groups, roles, content permissions, and access controls.
Perform platform lifecycle activities such as upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and certificate management.
Monitor platform health, logs, and performance across Viya services and supporting infrastructure.
Develop and maintain entities, pages, alerts, and workflows in SAS Visual Investigator.
Assist with the operation and maintenance of a SAS Viya 4.0 instance that includes SAS Studio, Visual Analytics, and Visual Investigator.
Collaborate with subject matter experts in the insider threat domain.
Configure and support authentication and authorization integrations,
o Troubleshoot role and permission propagation issues across Viya services.
o Ensure platform compliance with security and government standards (e.g., RBAC, least privilege, auditability).
Work 100% on-site at a single Northern Virginia location.
Other Responsibilities:
Build a trusted relationship with the customer to provide practical and theoretical guidance in the business value of proposed solutions and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
Understand client business pains and translate them into solutions.
Provide reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects, and technologies.
Provide data and analytical expertise to projects.
Participate in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings.
Strategize with sales team on objectives for customer meetings, understand how this activity relates to overall sales plan, and provide functional solution leadership for sales opportunities.
What we're looking for:
SAS Viya 4 Administrative knowledge/understanding
Working expertise with Kubernetes (AKS, EKS, OpenShift, or equivalent).
Experience troubleshooting containerized applications at scale.
Must be currently located in or willing to relocate to the Washington DC area.
Must be willing to work from client site up to 5 days per week.
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics or related field.
Additional Preferred (nice to have one or more) qualifications:
Current Top Secret clearance with CI or full-scope polygraph
Master's degree preferably in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
Prior experience with Agile development.
Analytics, business intelligence and/or data management experience.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work as an individual or part of a team.
Knowledge of SAS products, peripheral technologies, and implementation best practices.
Good problem solving, organizational, decision-making written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
Previous Federal government experience.
Understanding of open-source programming languages.
