Senior Talend 8.0 Architect (Hadoop-to-Snowflake Migration)
Locations: Berkeley Heights, NJ (preferred/primary team location) | Alpharetta, GA | Frisco, TX
Work Arrangement: Onsite 5 days/week — no hybrid, no remote
Employment Type: W2 or 1099
Duration: Approximately 3 months (potential for extension based on project timeline)
Start Date: 2–3 weeks after screening clears
Screening Required: Background check and drug test — both must be completed and cleared before system access is granted
About the Role
We're seeking a hands-on Senior Talend Architect to support a large-scale Hadoop-to-Snowflake data migration. This is an enterprise-scale engagement requiring deep experience with Talend Big Data Platform (not Open Studio) and proven success migrating or refactoring Talend jobs off legacy Hadoop/HDFS environments into a modern cloud data warehouse.
Responsibilities
- Lead the migration of Talend jobs from Hadoop/HDFS to Snowflake
- Work closely with the team to ensure successful data transformation and loading
- Create and maintain Talend job configurations for optimal performance
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to data migration or job performance
Requirements
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with Talend 8.0, Big Data Platform at enterprise scale
- Proven experience migrating or refactoring Talend jobs off Hadoop/HDFS
- Working knowledge of Snowflake
- Comfortable with shell scripting and property-file/context-driven job configuration
- Willingness and ability to work onsite 5 days per week
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Control-M orchestration
- Prior experience in financial services or other regulated environments
What We're Looking For
Candidates who can speak to specific, hands-on examples such as:
- Refactoring a Talend component (e.g., tMap) that previously pointed to HDFS/Hive to instead output to Snowflake via tSnowflakeOutput or bulk load
- Using shell scripts or context/property files in Talend 8.0 to dynamically switch environments between legacy on-prem and cloud stages
Compensation
$85-$90 per hour W-2 (hourly)
This is the targeted compensation range for this role. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location.
