A respected metal fabrication operation is adding an Industrial Millwright to its tool room team, working directly alongside a long-tenured specialist who will provide direct, hands-on mentorship. The tool room is clean, organized, and climate-controlled. This role is well suited to a candidate with some mechanical foundation who is ready to learn dies, punches, and production tooling from an experienced hand.
Schedule: 1st Shift.
Compensation: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour, based on experience.
What You\'ll Do:
The Industrial Millwright learns and performs inspection, repair, and refurbishment of dies, punches, and production tooling under direct mentorship, fabricating replacement components and tooling solutions using manual machine tools including lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses. This includes reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints where available, and applying hands-on judgment for legacy tooling that has no existing prints.
The role uses precision measurement instruments including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and height gauges to support tooling setup, alignment, and adjustments that maintain product quality and dimensions. The Industrial Millwright also assists production teams during changeovers, setups, and startups, maintains tooling inventory, keeps accurate records of repairs and modifications, and follows all safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Mechanically inclined, with the aptitude and interest to learn manual machining and tool repair
- Reliable and team-oriented, with a commitment to a clean, organized work environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical or vocational training in machining or a related trade
- Hands-on lathe and mill experience
- Blueprint reading skills
