AI-Enabled Quality Assurance Engineer (Spec-Driven Development)
Location: Preferably around Mechanicsburg, PA
The AI-Enabled Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for validating software quality in a specification-driven development environment where AI is used to generate application code. This role requires hands-on experience leveraging AI tools to create, maintain, and optimize end-to-end test cases, automated test scripts, and test data. The tester works closely with product owners, business analysts, developers, and architects to ensure requirements are accurately translated into comprehensive test coverage, and that AI-generated code meets functional, integration, performance, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Use AI-based testing tools to generate, refine, and maintain end-to-end test scenarios, test cases, and automated test scripts.
- Validate that specifications, requirements, and acceptance criteria are accurately reflected in test coverage.
- Review and challenge AI-generated test artifacts to ensure completeness, accuracy, and business relevance.
- Design and execute functional, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
- Collaborate with developers using AI-assisted coding practices to identify defects early in the development lifecycle.
- Ensure traceability between business requirements, specifications, user stories, test cases, and test results.
- Analyze test outcomes, identify gaps, and continuously improve AI-assisted testing processes.
- Support CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience using AI tools to create and maintain automated test scripts and test cases, not merely awareness of AI capabilities.
- Experience testing applications developed using AI-assisted software development practices.
- Strong knowledge of test automation frameworks, API testing, and end-to-end testing methodologies.
- Experience working in Agile environments, preferably using specification-driven or requirements-driven development approaches.
- Ability to validate and govern AI-generated artifacts while applying sound testing principles and critical thinking.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with tools such as Copilot or similar AI-assisted development and testing platforms.
- Familiarity with requirements traceability, behavior-driven development (BDD), and automated CI/CD pipelines.
