Data Engineer - Gies College of BusinessInformation Technology PartnersJob SummaryWork within the IT Partners data engineering team to develop and manage data architecture, pipelines, integrations, and processes for the Gies College of Business.
Duties & Responsibilities- Development and management of academic and administrative data
Develop and manage college databases, data systems, and pipelines that support customer relationship management, student success and engagement, corporate and alumni engagement, instructional excellence, learning outcomes, accreditation, and other administrative data.
Work collaboratively with IT Partners Data Strategy Management group to make actionable data available to college stakeholders
Work collaboratively with college stakeholders involved in customer relationship management, learning outcomes, accreditation, and other administrative areas. - Data transformation and integration
Develop and manage data pipelines for regular movement and transformation of data between systems
Leverage system APIs to integrate data between college systems and platforms - Data standards and integrity
Create and manage documentation of data systems and processes
Regularly audit and ensure data integrity in college data delivery
Develop and ensure compliance with data quality best practices including metadata curation and change control systems
Specialty Factors High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows:
30 semester hours equals one (1) year, Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months, 90 semester hours equals two (2) years, Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three.
Demonstrated experience in data pipelines, data management, data analytics, business intelligence, and/or data process management
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science or information/data science-related fields
Experience in developing metadata and process documentation
Experience with Git or similar versioning software
Experience in data visualization
Experience with data ingestion from third-party applications and APIs
Experience with Tableau or Power BI
Experience with Salesforce, Coursera, Canvas or similar platforms
Experience with Azure Data Factory
Experience with Microsoft SQL (or similar)
Experience within the University of Illinois and understanding internal processes
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Significant experience in SQL, Python, or similar
Fluency with Git or similar
Cloud computing experience
Data Architecture best practices
Appointment InformationThis is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. Theexpected start date is as soon as possible after the closingdate. The budgeted salary range for this position is $83,500 -$100,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualificationsand experience, while also considering internal equity. Hybrid workoptions may be available for this position, with the ability to be on-site atthe University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus as needed per the University's Workplace Flexibility policy. Thisposition is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.
