Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java / Cloud Engineer with robust expertise in Java 17+, Spring Boot 3, Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, and modern DevOps/automation practices. In this role, you will design, build, test, and maintain scalable microservices architectures, drive technical craftsmanship, manage technical debt, and ensure high reliability, security, and observability across cloud-native applications.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional product domains, mentor junior engineers, and leverage advanced tools such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Databricks, and GitHub Actions to deliver high-performance enterprise solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Engineering:
Write, test, and document high-quality code, scripts, and processes in accordance with organizational standards.
Design and develop enterprise-grade REST and GraphQL APIs and microservices using Java 17+ and Spring Boot 3.
Build components and libraries with far-ranging impact across disparate product domains, allowing teams to deliver value with speed, scale, and reliability.
Cloud Infrastructure & Data Management:
Build and maintain containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate workloads on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Configure and manage Azure cloud infrastructure, including VNets, private networking, security boundaries, Azure Event Hub, Azure Cosmos DB (MongoDB API), and Azure PostgreSQL.
Collaborate on data-intensive workloads utilizing Databricks and cloud-native data pipelines.
DevOps, Automation & CI/CD:
Build, test, and automate deployment pipelines using advanced GitHub Actions.
Develop robust automation scripts using Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
Manage code repositories and artifact packaging utilizing Git, GitHub, and CloudSmith.
System Design, Observability & Security:
Anticipate scaling, latency, and durability challenges, implementing effective mitigating strategies.
Partner with security organizations to embed cloud-native security best practices and secure coding procedures early in the software lifecycle.
Implement comprehensive Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and logging using Dynatrace and Mezmo.
Technical Leadership & Process Improvement:
Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) on systemic problems and drive corrective action items.
Oversee technical debt management and eliminate redundancies across team implementations.
Assess individual and team performance, mentor junior engineers on technical craftsmanship, and explore emerging technologies through independent prototyping.
Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
Experience: 8 9 years of professional software development and engineering experience.
Top Core Requirements: Java/J2EE, Microsoft Azure, Agile methodologies, Fast API, and DevOps/Automation.
Java & API Expertise:
Strong proficiency in Core Java (Java 17+) and Spring Boot 3 for API development.
Experience with REST and GraphQL (Apollo, Spring GraphQL).
Azure & Containerization:
Hands-on experience with Docker and container-based development.
Proven deployment experience on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Proficiency in Azure networking (VNet, private networking) and security configurations.
Practical knowledge of Azure Event Hub, Azure Cosmos DB (MongoDB API), and Azure PostgreSQL.
DevOps & Tooling:
Advanced experience with GitHub Actions.
Strong scripting and automation skills (Bash, Python, PowerShell).
Familiarity with Git, GitHub, and CloudSmith.
Architecture & Observability:
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
Cloud certifications in Microsoft Azure (e.g., AZ-204, AZ-305, or equivalent).
Prior experience with event-driven or real-time streaming architectures.
Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies and FinOps principles.
Experience mentoring, leading, or assessing technical teams.
