The VISION – CWIS FACS Conversion Initiative requires migrating critical program data from the Google Cloud Platform BigQuery environment into the enterprise SQL data warehouse.
The VISION – CWIS FACS Conversion Initiative requires migrating critical program data from the Google Cloud Platform BigQuery environment into the enterprise SQL data warehouse. As part of this modernization effort, all reports currently produced by mainframe and other legacy systems must be redesigned and rebuilt on the Power BI platform. To meet this need, an internal team of Power BI developers is being assembled, and the project requires a highly skilled Lead Power BI Developer to guide the team, establish standards, and ensure high‑quality deliverables throughout the transition.
Position Description
Under general direction, the Lead Power BI Developer will design, develop, test, and deliver modern reporting solutions that support daily business operations, program leadership, and analytical initiatives. Reports will source data from BigQuery‑based data marts and be distributed through approved agency channels.
This role will serve as the technical lead for the Power BI development team, providing mentoring, best‑practice direction, and coordination across program areas. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in enterprise reporting and at least five years of experience using Power BI in a production environment.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead development, redesign, and modernization of legacy reporting into new Power BI solutions.
· Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to a team of 4+ Power BI developers.
· Work closely with business partners, data engineers, and ETL developers to ensure accurate data sourcing from BigQuery data marts.
· Develop visually effective, accessible, and standardized reports aligned with agency reporting and accessibility requirements.
· Ensure all Power BI assets follow established governance, security, and documentation standards.
· Perform testing and validation to ensure accuracy, reliability, and consistency across all reporting products.
· Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, verify data elements, and support enterprise reporting needs.
· Produce and maintain technical documentation, report specifications, and support materials.
Required Skills and Experience
· Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards in an enterprise environment.
· Demonstrated experience with ETL and Reporting/BI tools.
· Proven ability to serve as a Technical Lead for a team of 4 or more developers.
· Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively address both technical and non‑technical audiences.
· Strong understanding of data models, data visualization best practices, and enterprise reporting standards.
