Hybrid/Local (Lansing ONLY) MI Govt Teradata DW Architect (5 page resume/15+) with audit, training, troubleshooting, Linux, ETL, BI tools, patching/upgrade/DR, security, data quality/cleansing and Child Support experience
Location: Lansing, MI (DHHS)
Duration: 12 Months
Hybrid Work Schedule (Non-Negotiable): There is no remote-only option
Required onsite days- Wednesdays and Thursdays
Remote eligible days- Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays
The resource must meet these requirements from the beginning
Candidates must be local to the Lansing, Michigan area (within 90 miles) at time of submission. This requirement is non-negotiable
Required Qualifications:
8+ years Teradata experience top requirement
Experience supporting the loading of data from multiple source systems
Ability to provide targeted training and technical guidance to development teams for troubleshooting and batch support
Minimum of 5 years of Linux experience
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to determine appropriate solutions while adhering to SoM and MDHHS/DTMB policies
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills, particularly in troubleshooting complex data and system issues
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous government experience or State of Michigan experience
Experience with cloud-based BI tools
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for complex Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler to ensure current and reliable data is available for critical business processes and decision making.
Responsible for Data Warehouse change management infrastructure and all promotions of code and ddl; performing build engineer tasks for both manual and automated promotion processes.
Responsibility for complex Linux security model on DW ETL servers. (Servers are administered by another group, but our team is responsible for the security structure and authorizes user access to the groups and sudos)
Responsibility for Teradata security and access.
Conduct data architecture reviews and audits to ensure alignment with enterprise standards
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture, processes, and solutions
Responsible for providing support for escalated Data Warehouse issue troubleshooting and resolution.
Evaluate and recommend new data technologies and tools to improve performance and scalability
Ensure data quality, accuracy, and effective use of enterprise data assets
Manage and support data integration processes, including ETL workflows across multiple systems
Collaborate with external vendors and third-party service providers as needed
Support patch management, system upgrades, and ongoing system maintenance
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues across data platforms
Perform data profiling and implement data quality rules for assessment and validation
Execute data cleansing and standardization using both built-in and custom data rules
Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies for data systems
Lead efforts to migrate data warehouse processes to standardized/common frameworks
Conduct elevated access reviews and user audits to ensure compliance
Identify and remediate audit findings related to data systems and security
Additional Notes:
Team Environment: The team currently consists of 2 State employees and 6 long-term contractors. It s a collaborative and well-established group that is looking for a senior-level resource who can step in and contribute immediately.
Work: Most work comes through one of the MDHHS Data Warehouse development teams. This role will work closely with developers, leadership, stakeholders, and various SOM and vendor staff on a day-to-day basis.
Project Scope: The scope is the MDHHS Data Warehouse project, which consists of Child Support, Child Welfare, Eligibility, and Health Services programs.
