Senior Technical Project Manager - Engineering Excellence
Overview

We are seeking a Senior Technical Project Manager to support an enterprise Engineering Excellence organization. This role will lead strategic initiatives focused on improving engineering execution, developer productivity, delivery velocity, and platform effectiveness across the organization.

The ideal candidate is a technically fluent delivery leader who can operate at the intersection of engineering, architecture, DevOps, and program execution. This individual will partner closely with engineering and architecture teams to translate technical strategy into executable plans while driving accountability, alignment, and successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Excellence Delivery

Lead enterprise initiatives focused on improving:
  • Developer productivity and engineering workflows
  • CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and deployment practices
  • Delivery tooling and engineering systems
  • Engineering metrics, reporting, and delivery predictability
  • Technical debt reduction and modernization efforts

Responsibilities include:
  • Translating engineering strategies into clear delivery plans
  • Defining milestones, dependencies, risks, and success criteria
  • Ensuring alignment between engineering priorities and enterprise commitments
  • Driving initiatives from planning through implementation and adoption
Technical Delivery Leadership

Partner directly with engineering, architecture, platform, and DevOps teams to:
  • Understand technical concepts, delivery models, and system dependencies
  • Validate execution approaches and delivery sequencing
  • Identify gaps in planning, readiness, and implementation strategies
  • Facilitate discussions around:
    • Application architecture
    • System integrations and dependencies
    • DevOps practices and CI/CD processes
    • Engineering tools and platform ecosystems
  • Challenge assumptions and drive alignment on scope, timelines, and trade-offs

Translate complex technical topics into:
  • Actionable project plans
  • Executive-level communications
  • Clear delivery updates and status reporting

Maintain a working understanding of engineering delivery processes and systems to effectively manage risks, dependencies, and execution.
Execution Discipline & Delivery Excellence

Operate within Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery environments using Azure DevOps or similar tools.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing epics, features, and delivery backlogs
  • Coordinating cross-team dependencies and sequencing
  • Managing scope, schedules, resources, and roadmaps
  • Leading risk, issue, and dependency management activities
  • Tracking project progress and reporting delivery performance
  • Driving accountability and decision-making across stakeholder groups
Cross-Functional Coordination

Coordinate delivery across multiple technical teams, including:
  • Software Engineering
  • DevOps and Platform Engineering
  • Architecture
  • Shared Services and Operations

Manage dependencies involving:
  • Engineering tooling platforms
  • Data flows and reporting systems
  • Enterprise-wide delivery initiatives

Facilitate working sessions to:
  • Resolve blockers

Engineering Systems & Tooling

Support initiatives involving:
  • Agile delivery and backlog management platforms
  • CI/CD tools and pipeline orchestration
  • Source code repositories and testing frameworks
  • Deployment systems
  • Monitoring, observability, and reporting platforms

Understand how engineering systems integrate and influence:
  • Delivery sequencing
  • Risk exposure
  • Timeline commitments
  • Operational readiness
Delivery Governance & Reporting

Maintain visibility into:
  • Project health and delivery progress
  • Risks, blockers, and dependencies
  • Key decisions and trade-offs

Prepare and deliver:
  • Executive status updates
  • Governance reporting
  • Portfolio and project health metrics

Drive transparency, accountability, and effective communication at all levels of the organization.
Adoption & Change Enablement

Ensure solutions are:

Required Qualifications
Project & Program Management Experience
  • 7-10+ years of project or program management experience in large enterprise environments
  • Proven track record delivering complex technology and engineering-focused initiatives
  • Experience working within Agile, SAFe, or hybrid delivery frameworks
Technical Knowledge

Demonstrated ability to:
  • Partner directly with engineers and architects
  • Engage in technical discussions with credibility
  • Understand engineering systems, workflows, and delivery processes

Working knowledge of:
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • DevOps methodologies
  • CI/CD pipelines and release management
  • Application architecture and system integrations
  • Data flows, reporting systems, and engineering metrics

Experience managing:
  • Multi-workstream initiatives
