LEAD SOFTWARE ENGINEER - HERNDON, VIRGINIA (HYBRID) - UP TO $180,000 PER YEAR - AEROSPACE, AVIATION & DEFENSE ORGANIZATION PERMANENT POSITION - URGENT HIRE About the Organization This aerospace, aviation, and defense organization develops software for mission-critical systems, modernization programs, and next-generation technology solutions. We are seeking a Lead Software Engineer to lead software product delivery and modernization initiatives. You will provide technical leadership and guide products through the full software development lifecycle. Lead software engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and maintain engineering standards for quality, security, performance, and reliability. Own software products from requirements and architecture through development, testing, deployment, and sustainment. Develop scalable applications, solve complex technical issues, and use Agile and AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery. Bachelor's degree with at least 9 years of relevant experience , or graduate degree with at least 7 years of related experience . Active Secret Security Clearance is required. Strong technical leadership, product ownership, software architecture, and system design experience. Experience across the full software development lifecycle and in Agile environments. 10+ years of professional software engineering experience. ~ Strong Java and C++ development experience. ~ Strong experience with Java Spring Boot and REST APIs . ~ Multi-threaded application development, database design, and Linux development environments. ~ Containerized development and deployment; Kubernetes, cloud/hybrid-cloud deployments, AWS GovCloud, or cloud-native development. ~ DevSecOps, automated testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis. ~ Cybersecurity-aware development and distributed, enterprise-scale applications. ~ Experience in DoD, SATCOM, networking, gateway, or telecommunications environments is highly preferred.
