Sr. CAD Engineer

Job title: CAD Design

Location: Southfield Michagan -Onsite

Duration: long term Contract 

Mandatory Skills & Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in transportation / automotive product development

• Proven expertise in Closures systems and sub-systems (OEM or Tier-1 supplier experience required)

• Strong hands-on experience with CATIA V5/V6 or equivalent CAD tools

• Advanced 3D modeling, packaging, and detailed design skills

• Experience working with Class A surface data

• Deep knowledge of high-volume automotive manufacturing processes

• Proven experience collaborating with:

  • Manufacturing teams

  • CAE teams (interpreting and applying analysis results)

  • Stamping teams and suppliers

• Ability to support tool design, secondary component changes, and production feasibility

• Strong understanding and application of:

  • GD&T

  • DFM (Design for Manufacturability)

  • DFA (Design for Assembly)

• Experience creating:

  • Engineering drawings

  • Packaging layouts

  • Section property and material analysis

• Benchmarking experience to evaluate design competitiveness

• Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

• Strong problem-solving mindset using engineering first principles

• Detail-oriented with a consistent track record of design excellence

• Demonstrated creativity in resolving mechanical design and performance issues

• Experience using FEA tools within the CATIA environment (required or strongly expected)
