job summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Platform Specialist to design, build, and support scalable cloud and infrastructure platforms across AWS and Azure environments. This role focuses on automation, reliability, and performance, leveraging Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Ansible) and modern DevOps practices. You will also support on-premise Kubernetes clusters and partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performing platform solutions. This is a long-term 100% onsite contract role with potential to convert to full-time.

Job Responsibilities
- Design, build, and manage AWS and Azure cloud environments (landing zones, networking, security, subscriptions)
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) to automate deployments
- Support and manage on-premise Kubernetes clusters (provisioning, performance, security)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Engineering, Data, Product) to deliver scalable platform solutions
- Improve platform reliability, scalability, and observability using best practices
- Monitor systems, troubleshoot issues, and lead incident response and root cause analysis
- Design and support high availability, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
- Identify bottlenecks and implement performance and cost optimizations
- Maintain clear documentation of architecture, configurations, and processes
- Recommend and implement platform improvements and automation opportunities
qualifications:
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure (engineering and architecture)
- Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform required; Ansible or similar)
- Experience supporting Kubernetes clusters (on-premise or hybrid environments)
- 5+ years of experience in DevOps practices and CI/CD automation
- Strong Linux administration experience
- Experience with Azure DevOps or similar CI/CD tools
- Proven ability to design and support scalable, highly available distributed systems
- Solid understanding of networking, storage, and core infrastructure concepts
- Experience with monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response
- Strong communication skills with the ability to document and explain technical solutions clearly
- Willing to work 100% onsite, daily, in Houston, TX area
Preferred:
- Experience with cloud governance frameworks (e.g., landing zones, Control Tower)
- Exposure to Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles
- Experience with cloud cost optimization strategies
- Relevant cloud or Kubernetes certifications (nice to have, not required)
