Manufacturing Engineer for a leading aerospace and defense manufacturer in San Diego, CA - Chula Vista.
As a
Manufacturing Engineer you will:
Job Description Day to Day Responsibilities - Develop, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, and workflows to support production operations.
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to manufacturing teams to ensure efficient, safe, and quality-driven production.
- Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs, and eliminate waste.
- Design, develop, and implement manufacturing tooling, fixtures, and equipment improvements.
- Create and maintain work instructions, process documentation, manufacturing routings, and standard operating procedures.
- Support new product introductions and production readiness activities by developing manufacturing plans and processes.
- Collaborate with production, quality, supply chain, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing challenges.
- Investigate manufacturing issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor production performance and recommend process improvements to meet quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support process validation, capacity planning, and line balancing activities.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to ensure manufacturability and compliance.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and operational procedures.
- Assist with implementation of best practices to improve overall manufacturing efficiency and performance.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
This is a full-time opportunity. 5 days a week. 8+ hours per day.
The ideal candidate will have: Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
- 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing and production operations.
- Experience developing, implementing, and improving manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing principles, production workflows, and process optimization.
- Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality management systems.
- Experience supporting assembly, machining, fabrication, or complex manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), PFMEA, and process validation activities.
- Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
Schedule: Monday-Friday | 1st Shift Pay Rate: $65.00 - $75.00 per hour Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
