Description

CenCore is seeking an IT Field Support Specialist to provide on-site and remote support for computer, communications, and teleconferencing systems in a cleared government environment at Fort Meade, Maryland. This role supports mission continuity by assessing site needs, configuring and installing hardware, maintaining communications infrastructure, and resolving technical issues. The specialist will also document service activities and train site personnel in accordance with organizational, DoD/DoW, and security requirements. The position requires an active Top Secret clearance with Polygraph and hands-on experience supporting end-user technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct site surveys to document existing configurations, user requirements, and installation needs.
  • Install, configure, test, and support computer workstations, printers, peripherals, communications devices, teleconferencing equipment, and associated cabling.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hardware, communications devices, and peripheral systems for on-site and remote users.
  • Maintain fiber-optic, Ethernet, and telephone systems provided by the government or vendors.
  • Analyze technical requirements and prepare hardware acquisition specifications.
  • Develop and coordinate hardware installation schedules.
  • Prepare site installation documentation and configuration-change drawings.
  • Support Active Directory security settings and policies as directed.
  • Train site personnel on the proper use of supported hardware and equipment.
  • Document service activities in accordance with organizational and security requirements.

Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Active Top Secret clearance with Polygraph; clearance must be current.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to provide a valid U.S. Passport Book or Passport Card.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Zero to two years of relevant IT or communications support experience; an associate or bachelor's degree in a technical field may substitute for experience.
  • Current qualifying certification from the approved DoD/DoW certification list for this labor category.
  • Hands-on ability to install, repair, and troubleshoot computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Proficiency with Windows operating-system installation, application setup, antivirus tools, and patching.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Experience providing remote end-user support.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience supporting a DoD or other government environment.
  • Familiarity with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides and secure communications systems.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Work is performed on site at Fort Meade, Maryland, with remote technical support provided to end users as part of the role.
  • Must be able to install, connect, test, and service computers, communications devices, peripherals, teleconferencing equipment, and associated cabling.
  • Must be able to read technical manuals, schematics, labels, and configuration documentation.
  • Must be free of color blindness.
  • Travel is required less than 10%.
