Job Description/ Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Database Administrator with over 10 years of expertise in managing large scale, mission critical database environments. The ideal candidate will have deep hands on experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012–2022) and Azure Cosmos DB, including high availability, distributed architectures, performance tuning, and cloud based database operations. This role requires a seasoned professional capable of ensuring database stability, scalability, and security across hybrid and cloud environments while leading complex initiatives and mentoring junior team members.

MSSQL Server Administration
• Administer and support SQL Server databases (2012–2022) across production, QA, and development environments.
• Design, implement, and maintain HA/DR solutions including:
o Always On Availability Groups
o Distributed Availability Groups
o Replication (Transactional, Merge, Snapshot)
o Log Shipping
o Mirroring
• Perform advanced performance tuning, query optimization, indexing strategies, and resource allocation.
• Implement and manage enterprise grade backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Automate routine tasks using PowerShell, T SQL, SQL Agent Jobs, and custom scripts.
• Monitor database health using tools such as Foglight, SolarWinds, Redgate, and Azure Monitor.
• Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades, migrations, and patching with minimal downtime.
• Enforce database security best practices including RBAC, encryption, auditing, and compliance.

Azure Cosmos DB Administration
• Manage and administer Azure Cosmos DB instances across multiple regions for high availability, low latency applications.
• Design and implement Cosmos DB architecture including:
o Partitioning strategies
o Indexing policies
o Throughput (RU/s) optimization
o Multi region replication
• Optimize Cosmos DB performance through query tuning, indexing, and resource configuration.
• Implement backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies for distributed NoSQL workloads.
• Monitor Cosmos DB performance using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and third party tools.
• Automate Cosmos DB operations using Azure Automation, Azure CLI, PowerShell, and ARM/Bicep templates.
• Troubleshoot complex issues including latency, throughput throttling, consistency configuration, and SDK related problems.
• Integrate Cosmos DB with Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Event Grid, and other cloud services.

Cross Platform Responsibilities
• Collaborate with development, DevOps, cloud, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of databases with applications.
• Lead database related projects, migrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Maintain detailed documentation for configurations, procedures, recovery plans, and troubleshooting.
• Assist in capacity planning and forecasting for both SQL Server and Cosmos DB environments.
• Stay current with new features, best practices, and advancements in SQL Server and Azure Cosmos DB.
