About the Role
Our client, a leading Fortune 50 retail corporation with a vast enterprise technology footprint, is seeking an experienced Tanium Platform Engineer to support and enhance their large-scale enterprise environment. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on platform administration, custom content development, automation, and operational support. This opportunity is ideal for a seasoned engineer who thrives in complex, high-scale environments and enjoys building solutions rather than simply maintaining them.
Job Description
As a Tanium Platform Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the reliability, security, and performance of the endpoint management platform across a large enterprise ecosystem. You will be responsible for developing custom Tanium content, automating operational workflows, and partnering with security and infrastructure teams to ensure robust telemetry, observability, and incident response capabilities.
The strongest candidates will have demonstrated experience administering Tanium in large enterprise environments and developing custom Tanium content rather than simply operating existing modules.

- Developing and maintaining custom Tanium content, including Sensors, Packages, and Saved Questions.
- Writing automation scripts using PowerShell and/or Python to support endpoint management and operational efficiency.
- Integrating with Tanium REST and/or GraphQL APIs to extend platform capabilities.
- Troubleshooting complex issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints.
- Supporting production environments, responding to operational incidents, and managing platform escalations.
- Validating telemetry, tuning alerts, and applying endpoint security concepts such as indicators of attack (IOAs).
- Managing source control of scripts, automation, and platform content using Git/GitHub.
- Contributing to runbook and documentation development to support platform reliability and knowledge sharing.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications: - Proven experience administering the Tanium platform in a large enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience with Tanium server administration, module configuration, platform maintenance, and custom content development.
- Experience creating and maintaining custom Sensors, Packages, and Saved Questions.
- Strong experience with PowerShell and/or Python for automation and endpoint management, including scripting and automation workflows.
- Experience integrating with Tanium REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
- Strong troubleshooting experience across Windows, macOS, and Linux systems administration.
- Experience supporting production environments, operational incidents, and platform escalations, including incident triage and escalation.
- Working knowledge of endpoint security concepts, including telemetry validation, indicators of attack (IOAs), and alert tuning.
- Experience using Git and GitHub for source control of scripts, automation, or platform content.
- Proficiency with Apache Kafka, API integrations, certificate management, and Postgres databases.
- Experience with data visualization and metrics, security logging, and platform reliability and monitoring.
- Familiarity with telemetry and observability tools such as Grafana and Telegraf.
- Experience with Logstash/Beats pipelines and runbook & documentation development.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Tanium modules such as Patch, Deploy, Asset, Comply, Threat Response, or Discover.
- Velociraptor administration, VQL development, or DFIR/live response experience.
- Experience with endpoint security tools such as CrowdStrike, Jamf Protect, or Sysmon.
- Exposure to logging technologies including Logstash, Beats, Elasticsearch/Kibana, or ClickHouse.
- Experience with Docker containers, Kubernetes, or DevOps tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, or Ansible.
- Familiarity with Apache Hadoop, Apache Hive, Apache Spark, and the broader Big Data ecosystem.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, etc.).
- Tanium certifications (TCA, TCO, TCP, or module-specific certifications).
