Software Engineer

Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer or Principal Software Engineer to contribute across the full software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced Agile environment to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions. This role involves solving complex problems, working closely with fellow engineers, and regularly demonstrating progress to end users.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions supporting DSS mission objectives
• Work independently and collaboratively as part of an Agile development team
• Deliver high-quality software on schedule while meeting mission priorities
• Solve complex technical challenges through innovative and practical solutions
• Collaborate with software designers and engineers on system planning and architecture
• Participate in integration and unit testing to ensure software reliability
• Provide regular demonstrations and updates to customers and stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong object-oriented software development experience in Java
• Experience working in Agile development environments
• Hands-on experience with software testing, including integration and unit testing
• Proven technical problem-solving skills
• Experience as a full-stack software developer
• Working knowledge of Linux operating systems
• Familiarity with relational databases (Oracle/PDBs) and SQL
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to evolving mission needs
• Ability to work full time on-site in Bellevue, NE

Education & Experience Requirements

• High school diploma with 6+ years of software development experience, or
• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM field with 2+ years of experience, or
• Master of Science degree in a STEM field with 0+ years of experience

Security Clearance

• Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance (clearance sponsorship available)
• Candidates with an active Secret clearance will be prioritized

Nice-to-Have / Preferred Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance
• DevOps / DevSecOps experience
• CI/CD pipeline experience
• Experience with Kubernetes
• Jenkins build and automation experience
• Familiarity with software security tools
• Experience with enterprise databases
• Experience using IDEs and configuration management tools such as BitBucket

This is a Contract position based out of Bellevue, NE.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
