AWS Migration DBA

Location: Richmond, VA

Work Arrangement: Hybrid (Onsite 2-3 days per week; additional onsite days as requested by management).

Employment Type: Contract

Interview Mode: Web-based initial interview; management reserves the right to require a follow-up In-Person interview.

Compliance: Candidates must physically reside within the US (Commonwealth of Virginia security policy).

Cloud Migration: Lead the migration and archiving of on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS using DMS (Database Migration Service) and SCT (Schema Conversion Tool).

Data Engineering: Develop and maintain Python scripts for data creation, transformation, and bulk loading.

Pipeline Development: Build and manage AWS-based data pipelines utilizing S3, Glue, and Lambda.

Database Support: Manage and tune Amazon RDS, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB environments to support application teams.

Modernization: Configure data management practices using native services such as AWS Glue Data Catalog, Data Zone, and API Gateway.

Performance Monitoring: Build operational metrics and dashboards to ensure system efficiency and data reliability for analytics.

Database Migration: 5+ years of experience migrating On-Prem SQL Server to AWS and Snowflake.

Cloud Expertise: 3-5 years of hands-on experience with Amazon RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and Snowflake.

Scripting: 5+ years of Python development for data processing and ETL tasks.

Data Orchestration: 5+ years of experience building pipelines with AWS Glue and Lambda.

Data Modeling: Proficiency in designing logical and physical data models for complex applications.

DevOps Basics: Familiarity with version control using GitHub and AWS Code Pipeline.

Experience: Minimum 5+ years in Database Administration or Data Engineering roles.

Legacy Knowledge: Strong background in SQL Server performance tuning and BAU operations.

Integration: Experience with PostgreSQL and supporting application data environments
