Role Overview
This position is a foundational role within the HR IT and Corporate Services IT organization. The Data Engineer is responsible for building and sustaining the data infrastructure that powers analytics, automation, and AI-driven capabilities across the enterprise. This individual will ensure that data flowing from operational platforms is clean, structured, governed, and ready to support intelligent applications, particularly as the organization advances its AI activation agenda.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain data pipelines that move and transform data from source systems into the cloud platform.
- Ensure data pipelines are reliable, observable, and recoverable, with automated alerting for failures.
- Define and maintain consistent semantic definitions for core HR and Corporate Services entities.
- Build and govern dimensional models and data marts that serve reporting, analytics, and AI use cases.
- Prepare, label, and structure datasets to support Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) patterns and LLM grounding.
- Partner with solution architects and AI practitioners to ensure data contracts are well-defined and stable.
- Implement data quality rules, validation checks, and monitoring across the data estate.
- Collaborate with data owners to establish and enforce data standards.
Required Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in data engineering, data integration, or a related role. Must include experience with AI development.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL and Python for data transformation and pipeline development. Experience with cloud data platforms is required. Candidates must have an understanding of dimensional modeling, data warehousing concepts, and semantic layer design.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HR domain business systems such as SAP SuccessFactors or ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with data pipeline frameworks (e.g., Apache Beam, dbt, Dataflow).
- Working knowledge of REST APIs and data exchange patterns (JSON, XML).
- Experience with middleware or integration platforms.
- Exposure to LLM grounding or AI/ML data preparation.
- A Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer certification is considered a plus.
