Summary

Who We Are:

AVANTech, LLC solves some of the most challenging problems in the water industry - from being first responders to the Fukushima Nuclear Plant meltdown to implementing patented first-of-its-kind technology. Our projects include industrial water recycling at government sites. AVANTech's goal is to improve the environment around us and support our clients with innovative sustainable water treatment solutions.

Who You Are:

As a Mechanical Engineer focusing on Business Development Support, you will play a key role in driving AVANTech's growth by combining your technical expertise with strategic business development initiatives. You will support the marketing, cost estimation, design, and implementation of cutting-edge nuclear water treatment systems worldwide. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and refining design documents-such as 3D system models, manufacturing drawings, technical reports, and engineering calculations-to develop compelling proposals and cost-effective solutions that meet client needs.

This role requires collaboration with project managers, electrical and chemical engineers, suppliers, and business development professionals to create winning proposals that showcase AVANTech's technical excellence and innovative problem-solving capabilities. A key component is the ability to conceptualize proposed ideas into concrete designs that can be modeled and price estimated for material/labor costs. This senior-level position offers opportunities for career growth based on performance, efficiency, and technical contributions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead conceptual mechanical design and cost estimation for new projects and proposals, working closely with business development to create compelling, high-quality bids.
  • Analyze project specifications to define engineering scope, technical requirements, and ensure mechanical design compliance with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and other associated proposal documentation.
  • Develop engineering documentation, including conceptual designs, calculations, cost estimates, labor forecasts, and detailed plans, aligned with client specifications and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to refine designs, ensure manufacturability, and secure competitive pricing for project proposals.
  • Engage with manufacturing teams-including welders, pipefitters, painters, operators, and quality assurance personnel-to optimize designs for efficiency and accurate cost estimation.
  • Support client interactions by translating complex technical concepts into clear, value-driven solutions that enhance business development efforts.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering
  • Experience with costing, estimating, or proposal development (preferred, but not required).
  • Proficiency in Creo or other 3D design software (preferred, but not required).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • A proactive, results-driven mindset with a passion for technical excellence and business growth.

Compensation and Benefits:

401K savings, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.

Generous paid time off and holidays.

Flexible work schedule

Job Type: Full-time, salaried, exempt. Competitive market salary range based on experience, skill level, and certifications.
