Technical Product Owner, Business Systems This is a 6-12 month contract role (40 hours weekly)
Frisco, Texas, 3 days onsite weekly
DESCRIPTION We are seeking a Technical Product Owner with strong business analysis skills to support client facing systems projects in a fast paced Agile environment. This role is ideal for someone who can work through ambiguity, ask the right questions, understand system and data flow limitations, and translate business needs into clear technical requirements for delivery teams.
- This person will partner with internal business teams, external clients, project managers, architects, developers, and QA teams to define requirements, manage the backlog, and support successful product delivery.
- The ideal candidate has strong presentation skills, excellent communication, and the ability to drive conversations beyond surface level requests to uncover true business and system requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Gather, analyze, document, and prioritize business, product, and system requirements.
- Lead requirements discussions, JAD sessions, stakeholder meetings, and client facing presentations.
- Translate business needs into user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and technical specifications.
- Maintain and prioritize the product backlog using Azure DevOps.
- Partner with delivery teams to clarify requirements, resolve questions, and support Agile ceremonies.
- Understand system relationships, data flow, business rules, and technical limitations to guide solution decisions.
- Conduct gap analysis between current systems and future business needs.
- Support acceptance testing to ensure delivered solutions meet functional and business requirements.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment with limited structure.
Required Qualifications- Minimum 7 years for product ownership, systems analysis, or related functional roles.
- Minimum 3 years in Agile environment.
- Strong skills gathering requirements, writing user stories, documenting acceptance criteria, and managing product backlogs.
- Technical enough to understand systems, integrations, data flow, and application limitations.
- Exposure to Azure DevOps, Visio, Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Confluence, or similar tools.
- Background with client facing communication and presentation.
- Ability for ambiguity and drive clarity across teams.
- Bachelor s degree
Preferred Qualifications- Benefits, healthcare, insurance, or related industry experience.
- Product Owner certification such as CSPO, PSPO I, or PSPO II.
