Description: About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Cyber Systems Engineer with strong Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) expertise to support the development of advanced systems operating in complex, security-focused environments. This role combines systems engineering, cybersecurity engineering, architecture development, and requirements management throughout the system lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience building and maintaining SysML models, developing system architectures, and integrating cybersecurity requirements into engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Support systems engineering activities to ensure cybersecurity requirements are incorporated throughout the system lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to meet program objectives and technical requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance system architectures using MBSE methodologies and SysML.
- Build and manage requirements, traceability, interfaces, behaviors, and architecture models.
- Analyze system designs to identify cyber risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support cybersecurity assessments, reviews, test planning, and validation activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and engineering processes.
- Provide technical guidance to development, integration, and verification teams.
- Participate in engineering design reviews and technical decision-making processes.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, processes, and procedures.
- Support Agile and DevSecOps-based development programs.
- Research and resolve complex technical issues across multiple engineering disciplines.
Must-Have Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field with relevant professional experience; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Strong understanding of systems engineering principles across the full system development lifecycle.
- Hands-on experience using MBSE methodologies and SysML.
- Experience creating, modifying, and maintaining system models within tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, or equivalent MBSE platforms.
- Experience managing requirements, architecture artifacts, and traceability using tools such as DOORS, Jira, Cameo, or similar solutions.
- Experience with requirements decomposition, allocation, derivation, verification, validation, integration, or architecture development.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity engineering and information assurance concepts within system development efforts.
- Ability to obtain industry-recognized cybersecurity certification aligned with cybersecurity engineering requirements.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications- Experience developing system architectures for complex aerospace, defense, or mission-critical systems.
- SysML Model User Certification or similar MBSE certification.
- Advanced cybersecurity engineering certifications.
- Experience supporting Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities and NIST SP 800-37 compliance efforts.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity systems engineering, networking technologies, and secure system lifecycle methodologies.
- Experience integrating cybersecurity constraints into system architecture and MBSE products.
- Experience working within digital engineering environments.
- Experience supporting Agile and DevSecOps programs.
- Experience in system planning, design, implementation, testing, and delivery of cybersecurity-focused solutions.
