Genesis10 is currently seeking a Network Technician for an onsite, 5+ month contract position with a Public Sector Organization located in St. Paul, MN.
Pay Rate: $ per hour This position involves installing and replacing network infrastructure throughout the 7-county metro area. The Network Technician will support System Engineers in diagnosing and troubleshooting network connectivity issues, requiring work to be performed both indoors and outdoors.
Responsibilities: - Install or replace physical network switches and ports in system infrastructure throughout the organization
- Support System Engineers in diagnosing and troubleshooting network connectivity issues
- Support and communicate about workspace standard power systems and wireless connectivity issues with the network team
- Document work performed using pictures, notes, and shared spreadsheets
- Ensure equipment installation is in the proper location
- Ensure basic installation steps are performed
- Communicate set-up issues and concerns with System Engineers and the network team
- Identify, transport, and deliver appropriate hardware equipment for the required job
- Safely load and secure hardware equipment in vehicles
- Discuss planned hardware transportation, installation, schedule, and connection with the Systems Engineer
- Assist the Systems Engineer in the layout of new infrastructure equipment
- Communicate planned work completion or issues
- Provide knowledge transfer to other Network Team members as required
Requirements: - High school diploma/GED AND four or more years of relevant work experience; or an Associate or higher degree OR two-year college/technical school certification AND two or more years of relevant work experience
- Experience working with general low voltage power, multi-media connectivity, and SolarWinds
- Experience reading blueprints and floor plans
- Experience promoting an equitable, positive, and respectful work environment
- Must have reliable transportation for travel throughout the 7-county metro area
Desired skills: - Cisco certification
- Azure certification
