Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support manufacturing process engineering activities within a high-volume axle carrier machining environment. This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives in safety, quality, productivity, and manufacturing performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining processes, lean manufacturing, process validation, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Support manufacturing process engineering activities for axle carrier machining operations.
  • Apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to improve manufacturing processes and system performance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, throughput, and productivity.
  • Lead manufacturing projects, including equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and launch activities.
  • Conduct process audits to ensure compliance with manufacturing standards and operational guidelines.
  • Perform ergonomic assessments and implement corrective actions to improve workplace safety and efficiency.
  • Analyze inventory and production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to reduce scrap and rejects.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and quality control procedures.
  • Support assembly and machining operations by delivering capable manufacturing processes and tooling solutions.
  • Lead problem-solving activities related to machining concerns and process variability.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices to improve operational performance.
  • Ensure compliance with plant, corporate, governmental, environmental, and safety requirements.
  • Identify throughput constraints and drive improvements to achieve production targets and rate-of-climb objectives.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing process engineering experience.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Lean Manufacturing
    • Manufacturing Engineering
    • Process Engineering
    • Process Validation
    • Problem Solving Methodologies
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and effective teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • Experience in high-volume CNC machining environments, including boring and drilling operations.
  • Experience supporting axle manufacturing or automotive component production.
  • Knowledge of:
    • CNC Mills
    • Process Improvement
    • Tooling and Manufacturing Processes
    • PPAP Processes
    • Lean Six Sigma Methodologies
    • FMEA, DOE, and Statistical Process Control
    • Gauge R&R and Capability Studies
    • Visual Factory Management
    • Ergonomic Analysis
  • Demonstrated project management and manufacturing equipment delivery experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
