Summary
Position Summary
The Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying, developing, and submitting grant opportunities that support workforce development initiatives within the energy sector across New Jersey and New York. This role involves conducting targeted research, aligning funding opportunities with organizational priorities, and preparing compelling proposals to secure funding from federal, state, and foundation sources.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth research to identify grant opportunities related to workforce development, clean energy, utilities, and skilled trades at federal, state (NJ & NY), and foundation levels.
Monitor grant portals (e.g., Grants.gov, state agencies, and private foundations) to track funding announcements, deadlines, and requirements.
Evaluate funding opportunities to ensure alignment with organizational workforce and talent development strategies.
Lead end-to-end grant proposal development, including writing narratives, preparing budgets, and compiling supporting documentation.
Collaborate with internal teams to gather program details, workforce data, and measurable impact metrics for applications.
Maintain and manage a pipeline of grant opportunities, submissions, deadlines, and outcomes.
Support post-award activities, including reporting, compliance, and documentation requirements.
Qualifications
Proven experience in researching and writing successful grant proposals, preferably in workforce development, energy, infrastructure, or education sectors.
Strong understanding of federal and state grant funding processes.
Excellent research, writing, and project management skills.
Ability to translate technical programs and workforce initiatives into clear, persuasive proposals.
Experience working with public sector entities or utility-related programs is preferred.
