Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce's client in Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex building systems projects across a diverse portfolio of commercial and institutional facilities. This role offers the opportunity to provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to high-impact projects from concept through construction.

Responsibilities:
* Lead mechanical engineering and HVAC system design from planning through construction administration
* Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents
* Coordinate with architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions
* Perform quality reviews and ensure technical accuracy of project deliverables
* Conduct field observations and site visits to support project execution
* Develop innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges
* Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
* Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
* Manage discipline-specific schedules, deliverables, and project milestones
* Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders
* Support client engagement and business development activities as needed

REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
* Active Professional Engineer (PE) license
* 10+ years of mechanical engineering experience within the building design industry
* Experience leading mechanical design efforts for commercial building projects
* Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, building design, and construction documentation
* Experience reviewing technical work and mentoring engineering staff
* Excellent communication and client relationship skills
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
* Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Experience:
* Proficiency with Revit
* Experience supporting business development efforts and client presentations
* Project experience involving aviation, healthcare, federal, industrial, workplace, warehouse/distribution, or other commercial facilities
* Experience leading engineering staff or project teams
* Willingness to travel occasionally for project and client needs

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.

We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
