Job Title: Commvault Data Protection Consultant
Location: New York City, NY (On-Site, with hybrid model)
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Commvault Data Protection Consultant to manage and support enterprise backup environments, ensuring data availability, integrity, and security across on-prem and cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on expertise in Commvault, NetBackup, and enterprise storage systems, along with experience in backup monitoring, troubleshooting, and infrastructure integration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage backup operations across Commvault and NetBackup environments
- Troubleshoot backup failures, performance issues, and storage-related incidents
- Configure and manage media servers, MSDP (Media Server Deduplication Pool), and tape libraries
- Utilize Commvault Helios and other monitoring tools for reporting and analytics
- Collaborate with internal IT teams and vendors to integrate backup solutions with production systems
- Support data protection strategies, including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
- Implement and manage cloud backup solutions and storage tiering strategies
- Develop and maintain documentation, SOPs, and operational runbooks
- Communicate project progress, risks, and milestones to stakeholders
Required Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in enterprise backup and storage management
- Strong hands-on experience with Commvault and Veritas NetBackup
- Experience with MSDP, media servers, and tape libraries
- Familiarity with backup monitoring tools (e.g., Commvault Helios)
- Experience integrating backup solutions with enterprise infrastructure
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Preferred Skills:
- 2+ years of experience with cloud backup solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform)
- Knowledge of storage tiering and lifecycle management
- Exposure to disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity planning
- Scripting knowledge (PowerShell/Shell) is a plus
