DutiesHelp
- Exercises overall responsibility for the continuing functionality of all servers in the Bureau's enterprise LAN that supports Department wide mission critical functions.
- Advises other specialists and managers on implementation of new or enhanced IT systems including providing on the job and formal training for new and revised methods and techniques for resolving IT issues.
- Ensures the accomplishment of system modifications and enhancements. Redesigns systems to accommodate changes in user requirements, regulations, policies, legislative changes, or new technology.
- Investigates systems problems, including the performance of e mail operations, and works directly with Bureau customers
- May participate in seminars, conferences, and other professional meetings to exchange information on program related matters. He/She may serve as a member of ad hoc committees and study groups both internally and externally to DOS.

Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants applying for the GS-13 grade level must meet the following requirements: Have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies AND specialized experience listed below:- Attention to Detail - Evaluates machine usage and based on current usage patterns, develops acquisition plans to support future expansion and usage needs.
- Customer Service - Advises other specialists and managers on implementation of new or enhanced IT systems including providing on the job and formal training.
- Oral Communication - Communicate complex technical requirements to non technical personnel.
- Problem Solving - Coordinates the resolution of system problems by identifying problems and meeting with users, managers, and hardware/software vendors to discuss options.
AND Have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:Experience providing technical and professional guidance in the field of information technology to accomplish the mission.
Experience Identifying and evaluating of appropriate, including new and emerging technologies which can be adapted to these emergency situations.
Experience investigating systems problems, including the performance of e mail operations, and works directly with customers.
NOTE: In order to qualify for this position, your experience MUST be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-13 position.
