Job DetailsSenior Mechanical Engineer
Manufacturing Operations | Sheet Finishing
This Senior Mechanical Engineer will support a critical manufacturing department by leading mechanical engineering efforts that strengthen plant safety, reliability, production performance, and quality. The role is heavily project-driven and plant-facing, with direct responsibility for delivering capital and sustaining improvements across manufacturing infrastructure, equipment, and processes.
In this position, you will operate with a high level of independence while collaborating closely with engineering peers, technical staff, maintenance, and production teams. Success in this role comes from hands-on project ownership, sound mechanical judgment, and the ability to execute work from concept through commissioning and closeout.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer reports to the Lead Engineer in the department and works day-shift hours, with flexibility to support off-shift activities as required by active projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of sustaining and capital mechanical engineering projects using structured project management practices
- Own projects from initial concept, scope development, and technical specifications through safety reviews, bid processes, equipment -installation, commissioning, and project closeout
- Develop clear project plans, schedules, and documentation to support safe and efficient execution
- Coordinate and manage external vendors and contractors providing engineering, materials, fabrication, and installation services
- Partner with maintenance and production teams to ensure solutions are practical, maintainable, and aligned with operational needs
- Drive tactical improvements related to safety, infrastructure reliability, training, equipment performance, and production efficiency
- Support structured problem-solving efforts focused on process improvement, machine performance, and recurring operational issues
- Communicate project status, risks, and outcomes clearly to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited program
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Experience developing project business cases and preparing project approval or capital justification documentation
- Proven ability to manage projects and priorities independently in a production-driven environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, maintenance, and operations teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools
- Authorization to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
- Ability to meet export control and ITAR compliance requirements, as applicable
