Job Title: Alation Platform Support
Location: Raritan, NJ (Onsite)
Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Alation Platform Support professional to administer, configure, maintain, and enhance the Alation platform. The role involves platform administration, security management, data onboarding, vendor coordination, cloud migration support, and enabling business and technical data governance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage users, roles, groups, and assign required privileges.
- Work with the vendor to understand the product roadmap and influence future enhancements through use cases and feature requests.
- Schedule MDE, Data Sampling, and QLI activities.
- Onboard new projects into the Alation platform.
- Create and manage Alation domains, sub-domains, and document hubs.
- Set up new connectors and data sources.
- Configure SSO and SAML authentication for the Alation platform.
- Synchronize LDAP with security groups and roles.
- Upload data dictionaries for bulk curation through the GUI.
- Coordinate with the Alation vendor regarding product bugs, capabilities, feature requests, and fixes.
- Prepare and maintain trackers for configuration changes and performance optimizations.
- Review Alation API access and grant appropriate permissions on a case-by-case basis.
- Configure Lexicon and Alli Bots for automatic curation of business and technical terms.
- Support projects migrating from on-premises environments to the cloud.
- Perform platform upgrades, apply patches, and implement bug fixes.
- Create and manage support and change management groups.
- Assist data stewards by providing guidance and issue resolution.
- Define the security model and enforce security best practices.
- Onboard the Alation platform to Asset Management.
- Work with TQ to qualify Alation on-premises and cloud platforms.
- Maintain platform security and firewall rules.

Qualifications

- Knowledge of SSO, SAML, LDAP, and access management concepts.
- Experience onboarding data sources, connectors, and projects into Alation.
- Ability to coordinate with vendors for product enhancements, issue resolution, and platform support.
- Experience supporting cloud migration initiatives and platform upgrades.
- Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and business glossary curation.
- Familiarity with firewall management and platform security best practices.
