Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Cognos to Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) Migration Consultant to support the modernization and migration of enterprise reporting, analytics, and data workloads from IBM Cognos to a cloud-based analytics environment on Google Cloud Platform.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience with IBM Cognos reporting, dimensional/data modeling, SQL, ETL/ELT, and Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, Dataproc, Composer, and Looker/Looker Studio. The consultant will analyze existing Cognos reports, packages, frameworks, data sources, and dependencies and design an efficient migration strategy to Google Cloud Platform.
Key Responsibilities
Assess the existing IBM Cognos BI environment, including reports, dashboards, Framework Manager packages, data modules, cubes, schedules, security, and dependencies.
Perform inventory and rationalization of Cognos reports to identify reports for migration, consolidation, modernization, or retirement.
Develop a comprehensive Cognos-to-Google Cloud Platform migration strategy and roadmap.
Migrate enterprise data and reporting workloads to Google Cloud Platform.
Design and implement scalable data models in BigQuery.
Convert Cognos reporting logic, calculations, filters, prompts, and business rules into modern Google Cloud Platform-based analytics solutions.
Rebuild Cognos dashboards and reports using Looker, Looker Studio, or other enterprise visualization tools.
Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as:
Google Cloud Dataflow
Dataproc
Cloud Composer
BigQuery
Cloud Storage
Pub/Sub
Migrate data from relational databases, data warehouses, and legacy platforms into Google Cloud Platform.
Translate Cognos Framework Manager models into scalable semantic and dimensional models.
Perform source-to-target mapping and data validation.
Conduct report reconciliation to confirm migrated reports match Cognos business logic and results.
Optimize BigQuery queries, partitioning, clustering, and overall cloud data-processing performance.
Implement security models using Google Cloud Platform IAM, service accounts, row-level security, and column-level security.
Support automated scheduling, report distribution, alerts, and data-refresh processes.
Develop migration utilities and automation scripts using Python, SQL, Shell scripting, or APIs.
Troubleshoot data, reporting, performance, and migration issues.
Work closely with business users, data engineers, BI developers, architects, and application teams.
Create technical documentation covering architecture, migration mappings, data lineage, deployment, and operational procedures.
Support SIT, UAT, production deployment, cutover, and post-production stabilization.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Engineering, Analytics, or Data Warehousing.
Strong hands-on experience with IBM Cognos Analytics.

Experience migrating reporting or analytics workloads from on-premises environments to cloud platforms.
Experience with ETL/ELT and data-pipeline development.
Strong understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and migration testing.
Experience working with large enterprise datasets and complex reporting environments.
