Client Overview

This opportunity is with a major global manufacturer of materials science and optical technology products, with a large corporate presence in the Charlotte, NC area supporting its optical communications business. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and manufacturing operations, supporting the digital systems that keep shop floor production running across a global network of manufacturing sites. The team partners closely with plant users, business leaders, and IT to modernize and standardize how manufacturing execution systems connect to the rest of the enterprise.

What You'll Do

  • Design, develop, and support MES applications using .NET, C#, ASP.NET, and Web APIs
  • Configure and enhance the MES platform to meet evolving manufacturing and business needs
  • Build and maintain integrations between MES, enterprise systems, and shop floor equipment
  • Partner with manufacturing stakeholders, business teams, and IT to translate requirements into technical solutions
  • Provide input on solution design, implementation approach, and system improvements
  • Help drive major system changes and integration efforts, identifying risks and recommending solutions
  • Implement and support messaging technologies to enable reliable communication across manufacturing systems
  • Troubleshoot complex issues in production and non production environments and implement long term fixes
  • Test and validate applications, integrations, and system changes for performance and stability
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and provide user support

What We Need From You

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience developing software solutions using .NET, C#, and ASP.NET
  • Experience building and supporting enterprise applications using RESTful APIs and integration patterns
  • Hands on experience with messaging or middleware technologies
  • Experience supporting systems within a 24/7 manufacturing, industrial, or operational environment, with a strong grasp of software development lifecycle fundamentals

Preferred / Bonus

  • Experience with Siemens Opcenter Execution Designer and Portal (formerly Camstar), or other MES platforms
  • Experience with Git, Azure DevOps/TFS, or similar source control tools
  • Familiarity with Oracle or SQL Server
  • Familiarity with TDD, CI/CD, and automated deployment practices, including tools like GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
  • Experience working in a Scrum/Agile team environment
  • Familiarity with AI assisted coding tools
