ABOUT OUR ENGINEERING SCIENCES TEAM

As part of our expanding Global Engineering and Scientific consulting team, you will work at the forefront of today's most complex engineering challenges. You will be engaged in analyzing failures of a myriad of products from a variety of industries, but with a heavy focus on large industrial facilities like power plants, Oil & Gas facilities, chemical processing plants, construction, and similar. Outside of that work, you will be engaged in automotive, consumer products, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Exceptional analytical skills, problem-solving, communication skills, and creativity are the foundation for successful professionals at Secretariat.
  • Manage the analytical workflow for environmental samples, from analytical planning through laboratory testing, data validation, and assessment of data usability.
  • Coordinate sample logistics, including collection and preservation requirements, chain of custody, shipping, holding times, sample tracking, and analytical deliverables.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with laboratories to coordinate testing, troubleshoot analytical issues, and implement follow-up actions.
  • Perform data validation through detailed evaluation of raw instrument data, chromatograms, calibration and quantitation records, and QA/QC results.
  • Develop QA/QC and data validation procedures and communicate findings, data limitations, and recommendations.
  • Providing project management and project budget oversight

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Requisite professional degrees and ~ 5+ years of work experience:
    • M.S. or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related program
    • Professional experience in analytical chemistry, laboratory operations, QA/QC, or data validation required.
  • Expertise in GC-MS and/or LC-MS/MS with a strong understanding of matrix effects, reporting limits, and data qualification.
  • Skilled with review and validation of organic chemistries, including emergent and legacy environmental contaminants. Prefer experience with inorganics as well.
  • Practical experience managing sample logistics, laboratory coordination, and analytical deliverables; experience working in or directly overseeing testing by commercial environmental analytical laboratories strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPA analytical methods, ASTM standards, and ISO/IEC 17025 preferred.
  • Excellent expert report writing skills to complement analytics
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent listening, verbal, written, technical, and presentation skills
