Location: Plano, Texas (On-site)

Description

This role serves as the functional safety lead for the Connected Car Test (CCT) Lab, ensuring compliance with all safety, quality, and company requirements. The position is responsible for conducting regular audits, maintaining and documenting safety procedures, and coordinating with internal stakeholders, including IT Business Partners and Quality Safety teams, to support a safe and compliant CCT Lab environment. It provides guidance and coaching to engineers on hazard awareness and risk mitigation while continuously identifying opportunities to improve safety practices. The role also supports problem-solving within projects by applying a functional approach and requires a proactive, self-directed individual with strong collaboration and communication skills to effectively engage diverse audiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Acts as functional CCT Lab Safety expert and work with internal Customer groups such as IT business Partners to maintain safety compliance
  • Perform periodic audits of mandatory safety procedures and shares results with management team
  • Coordinate with Quality Safety group to complete required procedures related to a lab environment
  • Coach Engineers working in lab on hazard awareness and recognition
  • Develop and maintain operating procedures to represent the status of all safety requirements
  • Solves intermediate business problems within team and projects
  • Takes functional approach to identify opportunities and supports team in creating solutions
  • Capture and document daily safety procedures

Competencies:

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of safety principles and applies them effectively to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement appropriate mitigation strategies within a lab environment.
  • Builds collaborative relationships across cross-functional teams, working effectively with internal stakeholders to maintain compliance and continuously improve safety practices.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, tailoring messages to different audiences to ensure understanding of safety requirements, audit results, and procedural updates.
  • Takes a proactive and self-directed approach to work, managing responsibilities independently while consistently delivering high-quality outcomes aligned with strategic direction.
  • Applies problem-solving skills to analyze intermediate business challenges, using a functional mindset to identify opportunities and support the development of practical solutions.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and accountability by accurately documenting procedures, maintaining up-to-date safety records, and ensuring adherence to all required standards and processes.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience or a new college graduate with a bachelor s degree
  • Display thorough understanding of safety, company, and quality requirements. Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement mitigation plans.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, self-motivated work ethic with the ability to self-manage and execute once given strategic direction, along with strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, trust-building, and teamwork
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and present information clearly, concisely, and at the appropriate level of detail
