Position Summary: The Sr. Cloud Engineer independently manages Azure Government (GCC High) cloud environments and hybrid infrastructure. They participate in solution design and migration efforts, support moderately complex issues, and ensure alignment with CUI, CMMC, and ITAR compliance requirements. The Sr. Cloud Engineer will possess strong experience in Azure Government cloud administration and hybrid architecture. They have a deep understanding of Windows Server and VMware integration, with growing expertise in compliance, security, and cloud operations. The Sr. Cloud Engineer works in a team environment collaborating with cross-functional teams such as IT, Security, and business units. They may have occasional engagement with external vendors or service providers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage Azure Government cloud resources, including compute, storage, networking, and identity, while maintaining hybrid connectivity with on-prem infrastructure.
  • Engage stakeholders to define requirements for Azure Government deployments and hybrid architectures.
  • Resolve advanced cloud and hybrid issues, including identity, networking, and performance; perform root cause analysis.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for Azure cloud architecture, hybrid connectivity, and operational procedures.
  • Drive improvements in automation, monitoring, and cost optimization within Azure Government environments.
  • Provide informal guidance to peers and participate in team-based decision-making. Share knowledge with new team members and participate in ongoing learning.
  • Support vendor evaluations and assist with product comparisons or service reviews.
  • Ensure assigned tasks comply with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex Azure Government and hybrid issues and implement effective solutions. Use findings to propose actionable solutions.
  • Participate in 5S Workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities, including requests for maintenance when needed for both personal space and multi-use department spaces.
  • Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Education/Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. 7-10 years of previous experience in a related role. Demonstrated understanding of IT infrastructure, and the ability and interest in growing technical proficiency.
  • Strong Azure Government cloud administration across compute, storage, networking, and identity services. Experienced in managing hybrid environments integrating on-prem Windows and VMware systems.
  • Strong analytical capability across Azure Government and hybrid environments, including performance, incident trends, and cost drivers.
  • Independently manage Azure Government migrations, deployments, and hybrid infrastructure projects.
  • Must be able to clearly, concisely and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
    Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and empathetic style.
  • Ability to work together with other team members to identify challenges, communicate them to supervisors, and implement solutions.

Working Conditions:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
