Scope:Large-scale infrastructure refresh across multiple datacenters in Lee's Summit and Kansas City. The environment includes enterprise storage platforms such as Dell PowerMax, HPE 3PAR, NetApp, and Brocade Fibre Channel switching; however, this role is focused on hands-on datacenter support, rack-and-stack activities, cabling, equipment placement, labeling, inventory, and basic deployment assistance rather than storage engineering or advanced SAN administration.
We are seeking two hands-on Data Center Technicians to support infrastructure refresh and deployment activities across multiple data center locations. This is a lower-level, field-focused role ideal for technicians with experience working in datacenter environments, installing hardware, managing cabling, following runbooks, and supporting engineers during equipment refresh, migration, and validation activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Rack, stack, install, and remove servers, storage hardware, switches, and related datacenter equipment
- Perform structured cabling tasks, including copper, fiber, patching, cable routing, labeling, and basic cable management
- Support equipment moves, adds, changes, decommissions, and refresh activities across multiple datacenter locations
- Follow detailed runbooks, work instructions, diagrams, and deployment plans provided by engineering teams
- Assist with physical connectivity validation, power checks, port verification, and basic hardware status checks
- Maintain accurate inventory records, asset tags, labeling, rack elevations, and deployment documentation
- Escalate technical issues to storage, network, server, or infrastructure engineering teams as needed
- Collaborate with project teams, engineers, vendors, and onsite datacenter staff to complete scheduled refresh work
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year of hands-on experience in a datacenter, lab, hardware deployment, or infrastructure support environment
- Experience with rack-and-stack activities, hardware installation, cabling, labeling, and basic datacenter procedures
- Ability to read and follow rack elevations, cabling diagrams, asset lists, deployment checklists, and technical runbooks
- Basic understanding of servers, storage devices, network switches, power connections, and datacenter physical infrastructure
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document asset, cable, port, and location information
- Ability to lift, move, and install datacenter equipment in accordance with site safety procedures
- Ability to work primarily on-site across the Kansas City / Lee's Summit datacenter locations
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting datacenter refresh, migration, or hardware deployment projects
- Familiarity with enterprise storage, server, or network hardware from vendors such as Dell, HPE, NetApp, Cisco, or Brocade
- Basic understanding of fiber cabling, patch panels, transceivers, and port labeling standards
- Experience using ticketing systems, asset management tools, or deployment tracking spreadsheets
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, or similar foundational technical certification
