Senior Cyber Recovery Engineer

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Senior Cyber Recovery Engineer to serve as a hands-on technical leader responsible for designing, implementing, and validating cyber recovery capabilities for critical systems and data. This role combines infrastructure engineering, cybersecurity, and operational resilience within a regulated financial services environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience supporting cyber recovery programs, executing recovery exercises within isolated recovery environments (IRE) and clean room configurations, and collaborating on regulatory and operational resilience initiatives. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain Isolated Recovery Environment (IRE) and clean room infrastructure for cyber recovery exercises. Execute end-to-end recovery testing cycles and validate Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPOs) for critical systems and applications. Develop and maintain recovery runbooks, playbooks, automation scripts, and restoration procedures. Support regulatory examinations, audits, and compliance activities related to cyber recovery and operational resilience. Translate regulatory guidance into actionable recovery engineering and operational requirements. Architect and manage air-gapped or logically isolated backup and replication pipelines. Implement network segmentation and identity isolation controls within recovery environments. Manage and coordinate cyber recovery exercise schedules and threat simulation scenarios. Lead post-exercise reviews and implement continuous improvement initiatives for recovery readiness. Mentor junior engineers on recovery engineering practices, clean room operations, and cyber recovery protocols. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and operations teams to strengthen recovery and resilience capabilities. Required Qualifications 10+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, resilience, or related engineering disciplines. Minimum 4 years of experience within a regulated financial services environment. Hands-on experience implementing and testing cyber recovery solutions within Isolated Recovery Environments (IRE) or clean room environments. Experience supporting regulatory engagements and technology examinations within financial institutions. Proficiency with enterprise backup and replication platforms such as Cohesity, Rubrik, Zerto, Veeam, Commvault, or NetBackup. Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible. Experience with scripting languages including Python, Bash, or PowerShell. Understanding of network segmentation, identity isolation, and zero-trust security concepts. Familiarity with ransomware response practices, destructive malware scenarios, and forensic triage processes. Knowledge of operational resilience frameworks and guidance such as FFIEC, NIST CSF, and DORA. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Excellent collaboration and communication abilities. Preferred Qualifications Experience working within large-scale or highly regulated banking environments. Experience with hybrid cloud recovery environments including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Familiarity with financial transaction systems and recovery considerations. Background in incident response, cyber threat intelligence, or recovery-focused cybersecurity operations. Exposure to DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act) implementation initiatives.
