Job Description

The QA Tester will support the DC Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) application initiatives by performing comprehensive software testing activities to ensure applications meet business requirements, quality standards, and project objectives.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manual and automation testing, proficiency with JIRA, and hands-on expertise across the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). The consultant will work closely with Business Analysts, Developers, Product Owners, and Project Managers within an Agile environment to validate functionality, identify defects, and ensure successful application deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze business and technical requirements to ensure complete test coverage.
• Design, develop, and execute detailed test plans, test scenarios, and test cases.
• Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and user acceptance testing.
• Create and maintain automated test scripts using automation frameworks such as Selenium and ACCELQ.
• Execute manual and automated testing and document results.
• Identify, document, track, and manage defects using JIRA.
• Collaborate with developers and business analysts to review acceptance criteria and resolve issues.
• Perform API testing and validate integrations between systems.
• Validate database results through data verification and schema analysis.
• Conduct cross-browser, usability, and compatibility testing.
• Review UI wireframes and design specifications from Figma/XD.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and release activities.
• Maintain test artifacts, traceability matrices, and quality metrics.
• Ensure compliance with DC Government security and quality standards.
• Communicate testing status, risks, and defect trends to stakeholders and project teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance and Testing.
• Strong experience in both Manual and Automation Testing.
• Hands-on experience with JIRA for defect tracking and test management.
• Experience with automation testing tools such as Selenium, ACCELQ, or similar frameworks.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and Agile methodologies.
• Experience with REST API Testing using tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
• Working knowledge of database concepts, SQL queries, and data validation.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
