Security Analyst - Application Security
Engagement: Contract, approximately 2-3 years
Work arrangement: Onsite; location details shared during screening
AE Business Solutions is seeking a Security Analyst to support application security and broader cybersecurity initiatives. The contractor will work with technical teams, remediation partners, and business stakeholders to help protect applications, systems, and information across on-premises and cloud environments.
This role combines security design, vulnerability remediation, and operational support. The analyst will help teams apply practical security controls throughout the application lifecycle and contribute to continuous improvement of security processes and tooling.
*This is expected to be a 2-3 year contract with the possibility of being converted to FTE status *Health insurance, PTO, 401K match, etc. can be provided throughout the engagement *NO C2C Inquiries, pleaseWhat you'll do - Review technical designs and recommend security practices and controls.
- Advise application and technical teams throughout the application lifecycle on security measures, risk mitigation, and remediation strategies.
- Assess threats and help identify appropriate countermeasures that support business needs.
- Apply knowledge of security technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention, data loss prevention, endpoint protection, and log aggregation.
- Contribute security expertise to projects, supporting implementation, operational readiness, and validation of improvements.
- Maintain and track metrics for initiatives and projects.
- Create and maintain automation infrastructure, and document procedures and operational handoffs.
- Help integrate security tools and automation into development processes; assess emerging technologies and support secure solution design.
What you'll bring - Knowledge of vulnerability remediation for systems and web applications.
- Ability to interpret vulnerability scanning and penetration testing reports.
- Familiarity with the OWASP Top 10 and applying its concepts to development practices.
- Understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and related secure software development and security assessment guidance.
- Basic familiarity with Python.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Education and preferred qualifications - Bachelor's degree and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A degree in computer science or a related discipline is helpful, but not required.
- Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+ or CISSP are a plus, but not required.
- Familiarity with application security scanning tools and ecosystems is a plus.
