Genesis10 is currently seeking an Application Architect for a contract position with a Global Financial Institution located in Jersey City, NJ. This is a 12+ month contract opportunity. This is a senior application architecture role focused on improving and modernizing existing systems that handle very large transaction and data volumes. The architect will work with engineering teams to evaluate technologies, identify architectural improvements, and drive technology decisions. This is a hands-on role for a candidate who can balance technical depth with business alignment and engage with both engineering teams and senior leadership.
Responsibilities: - Define application and platform architecture strategy
- Evaluate architectural approaches and clearly communicate pros and cons
- Recommend scalable and maintainable enterprise solutions
- Partner with development teams to improve system design across the application landscape
- Provide guidance on infrastructure placement, system topology, and application architecture decisions
- Support the firm's ongoing Databricks transformation initiatives
- Collaborate with Senior Leadership Teams (SLTs) and cross-functional stakeholders
- Review existing systems and recommend improvements rather than building from scratch
- Drive architectural best practices across development and platform teams
Requirements: - Enterprise Application Architecture experience
- Strong system design and solution architecture expertise
- Experience working closely with development teams
- Ability to evaluate technology tradeoffs and make recommendations
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience in Java-based enterprise environments
- SQL and distributed system architecture experience
- AWS cloud architecture knowledge
Desired skills: - Databricks exposure
- Kafka ecosystem knowledge
- Large-scale modernization or migration programs
- Financial services environments
- Experience supporting executive-level stakeholders
Pay range: $88.59 - $96.59 per hour
