Each of these practices aligns to one of the core services the company offers to clients. As a Back End Engineer, you will join the Digital Modernization practice, where technology and strategy combine to deliver exceptional digital experiences, empowering organizations to thrive in today's digital market.
Responsibilities:
Legacy-to-Cloud Translation
Interpret complex technical documentation of legacy mainframe systems to identify integration touchpoints and determine the downstream impacts of cloud migration
Technical Advisory
Evaluate and recommend optimal technical paths for modernizing integrations within the existing ecosystem, ensuring minimal disruption to active claims processing
Architectural Alignment
Collaborate closely with Enterprise Architects to ensure all solution designs strictly adhere to both the target-state cloud architecture and necessary "transitional-state" patterns
Data Pipeline Engineering
Design and optimize back-end data flows using cloud-native services, focusing on performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency
Collaborative Design
Participate in creative problem-solving sessions to bridge the gap between legacy data structures and modern cloud-native data environments
Agile Participation
Operate as an embedded member of the Health Plan Administration technical team, contributing to sprint cycles, daily stand-ups, and PI planning within a SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework) environment
Technical Communication
Distill complex technical concepts into actionable insights for stakeholders to assist in the prioritization of backlog requirements and deadlines
Qualifications:
Technical Proficiency
Strong experience with back-end development and data orchestration
While the primary stack is AWS (Glue, S3, Lambda, Node.js), equivalent experience in other major cloud providers (Azure/Google Cloud Platform) will be considered
Modernization Experience
Familiar in working on large-scale migrations, specifically moving workloads or integrations from legacy/mainframe environments to the cloud
Data Flow Optimization
Strong understanding of how to manage and optimize high-volume data as it flows through serverless and microservices architectures
Process Expertise
Experience operating within a SAFe or Agile environment, with a clear understanding of how to manage changing priorities and shifting deadlines
Soft Skills
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to advocate for specific technical designs while remaining flexible to business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience within the Health Insurance/Health Plan industry or claims processing domains
Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines in a cloud-native context
A "consultative" mindset-the ability to act as a subject matter expert who can influence design decisions
The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $145,000 or the hourly equivalent.
