Volt is immediately hiring for Software Engineer I in San Diego, CA
What are the main functions of this role:
In this onsite role, you will contribute to the development, testing, and installation of mission-critical software components. The position provides strong mentorship, structured learning opportunities, and exposure to Agile development, DevSecOps processes, and CI/CD workflows.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and enhance software features under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Assist with debugging, troubleshooting, and resolving software defects.
- Contribute to automated testing and participate in CI/CD-based build and integration processes.
- Support software design activities, including documentation and interface definition.
- Work within an Agile team, participating in stand-ups, sprint reviews, and planning sessions.
- Follow secure coding practices and support DevSecOps-aligned workflows.
- Collaborate with systems, hardware, and test engineering teams.
- Maintain documentation for reviews, audits, and configuration management.
This is 6 months Full- time- contract with possible extension opportunity.
Required:
- Foundational knowledge of one or more programming languages: C, C++, Python, or Java.
- Understanding of software development fundamentals, debugging, and version control.
- Familiarity with Linux environments or basic command-line operations.
- Exposure to Agile development through coursework, internships, or academic projects.
Desired Skill Sets:
- Hands-on project experience with embedded systems, networking, or real-time software.
- Experience with CI/CD concepts or tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar.
- Exposure to DevSecOps concepts or secure coding practices.
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks.
- Experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, particularly in multidisciplinary engineering environments.
Years of Experience Required (if any): 1-3 years.
Education level required:
- Bachelor s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related STEM field.
Pay Range: $62.00 - $67.00 per hour.
