Overview

We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) with hands-on experience implementing Google Vertex AI Search for retail, specifically the Browse and Recommendations capabilities, to support client engagements involving personalized search, product discovery, and recommendation experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Design, configure, and implement Google Vertex AI Search solutions for retail/e-commerce clients, with a focus on Browse and Recommendations use cases

Lead technical discovery sessions to translate business requirements (merchandising rules, personalization goals, catalog structure) into Vertex AI Search configurations

Integrate Vertex AI Search with product catalogs, user event data, and existing e-commerce platforms (e.g., Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify, or similar)

Tune and optimize recommendation models, ranking, and relevance for search and browse experiences

Provide architecture guidance on data pipelines feeding Vertex AI Search (product catalog sync, user events, click/conversion signals)

Troubleshoot performance, relevance, and integration issues

Serve as technical SME in client-facing discussions, POCs, and solution presentations

Document implementation patterns, best practices, and reusable accelerators

Required Qualifications

Proven hands-on experience implementing Google Vertex AI Search (formerly Retail Search/Recommendations AI) in production environments

Direct experience with Vertex AI Search's Browse and Recommendations features specifically (not just general search implementations)

Strong understanding of retail data models: product catalogs, user events, conversion tracking

Experience integrating Vertex AI Search with e-commerce platforms via APIs

Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (Google Cloud Platform) services (BigQuery, Cloud Storage, IAM)

Working knowledge of ranking/relevance tuning, A/B testing for search/recommendation quality

Strong client-facing communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to business stakeholders
